Over 1,000 sign up for Walk for Wards charity event at Wilton House
The event supports Salisbury District Hospital
More than 1,000 participants have already signed up for the Stars Appeal's flagship fundraising event, Walk for Wards, set to take place at Wilton House on Sunday, 5th July.
The Stars Appeal, the charity for Salisbury District Hospital, is encouraging even more walkers to participate in the event.
Participants can choose to walk 3k, 5k, 10k, or the more challenging 15k route to express gratitude to a ward or department at Salisbury District Hospital that has cared for them or their families, or to celebrate the memory of a loved one.
It is free to enter the sponsored walk via the Stars Appeal website, www.starsappeal.org. Lunch is provided, and everyone is welcome to enjoy the Wilton House grounds after the walk.
Consultant Haematologist and Stars Appeal Ambassador, Dr Tracey Parker, expressed delight at the community's enthusiasm: “We are delighted that over 1,000 people have already signed up to take part in Walk for Wards.
"It’s fantastic to see such wonderful support from the local community for Salisbury Hospital."
She encouraged more people to get involved, aiming for 2,000 participants.
"It is a great event for all ages, and every step taken helps us to raise as much as possible to enhance care for our patients and their families."
Walk for Wards is held at Wilton House with the permission of Stars Appeal President Lord Pembroke and Lady Pembroke.
Funds raised by the sponsored walk will support Salisbury District Hospital through projects that include state-of-the-art equipment, building enhancements, and other ongoing efforts such as the Stars Appeal Wi-Fi and cancer support projects.
Walkers are encouraged to sign up in advance and commit to raising at least £20 or £50 sponsorship per person, depending on the route.
To register for free, visit www.starsappeal.org or contact the Stars Appeal office at 01722 429005.
