A Wiltshire Paralympian and author has been given special recognition at this month's South West Business and Community Awards.

The extra nod to Louise Hunt Skelly recognises her achievements, including the release of her book and her commentating at the past two Olympic Games.

Posting on social media earlier this week, she said: "Throwback to a week ago today, when I arrived at the South West Business and Community Awards thinking I was shortlisted in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year category.

"I was already delighted to have even been nominated but as the evening unfolded, the biggest surprise of all unravelled.

"The judges decided to create a Special Recognition Award just for me! They later explained that I had been nominated across multiple categories, which is why they came to the conclusion to give me the special recognition award.

"I honestly can’t explain how shocked and grateful I was to receive such an unexpected honour, it really makes all the hard work worth while 😊 To top it all off, I was thrilled to receive a surprise special message from Tanni Grey-Thompson congratulating me on the win, what a moment!

"A huge thank you to those who nominated me and to the judges for this incredible recognition. It means the world!"
