Two sheep have died following a suspected dog attack near Salisbury Racecourse, with police now investigating.

A ewe was found close to Old Shaftesbury Drove, with wounds to her throat and mouth.

The animal had to be euthanised due to the severity of the injuries.

A further ewe was also found dead with similar injuries, but it's not certain that the incidents happened at the same time.

The ewe had to be put down, as the injuries were so severe, with another also found dead with similar wounds

Wiltshire Police's Rural Crime Team say it's likely the attack was at some point between 11.00am on Sunday 22nd December and 7.00am on Monday 23rd December.

The area's popular with dog walkers, and police are asking witnesses to contact them with any information about the incident.

You can contact officers by calling 101, and quoting reference number 54240151189.

Anonymous reports can be passed on to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

There's also a plea for dogs to be kept on leads, especially when they're being walked close to wildlife.
