Salisbury man banned from driving after dangerous police pursuit
Tyson Sheppard admitted to the offence in court
A 20-year-old man from Salisbury has been banned from driving for a year after leading police on a dangerous pursuit in the city in August last year.
Tyson Sheppard, of The Valley in Bemerton Heath, admitted to dangerous driving and has been handed a 12 month community order, told to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay almost £200.
It's after he failed to stop for officers on Devizes Road on 28th August 2024, after they had spotted a red Ford KA connected to crime and seen to be driving on cloned plates.
Sheppard immediately tried to flee once he saw police were present, which triggered a pursuit, which saw him show no regard for other people on the road, with footage from the chase showing multiple near-misses with other vehicles, as well as almost hitting a pedestrian when he mounted a kerb.
The pursuit ended when Sheppard crashed into a gate on Penning Road, near to Hazel Close.
Forensic Collision Investigator Jamie Boyland said: “The manner of driving displayed by Sheppard during this pursuit fell well below the standard expected of a safe and competent driver.
“It is lucky nobody was injured as a result of his dangerous actions.”
