Salisbury Hospice charity recycling Christmas trees for donations

If you're taking decorations down, spare a thought for the city's hospice

A South Wiltshire charity is asking us to consider them when we're taking down any Christmas decorations in the coming days.

Salisbury Hospice is once again taking part in a festive tree recycling scheme, where real ones are taken away and chipped up, in return for a donation to them.

We can register to take part online by Monday (6th January), with the trees being collected by volunteers between Friday 10th and Sunday 12th January.

You're asked to make a donation per tree, with the service running across the SP1 to SP9 postcode areas, as well as SO20 6 and SO20 8.

The chippings from the trees are donated to local farms for use as compost, animal bedding, and feed - and we don't have to deal with the needles in the car either!

90% of the donations made go directly to Salisbury Hospice for their work caring for terminally ill patients and their families, at their Odstock base and through at home services.

The remaining 10% goes to other local causes.

The scheme is sponsored by Sampson Coward solicitors, who've said:

“We have visited Salisbury Hospice and seen at first hand the amazing work they do. The funds raised in events such as this are vital to the Hospice and so we are delighted to be helping make it happen.

"Members of our staff will be assisting with the collection and we look forward to seeing you following what we hope is a happy and healthy festive season for us all.”
