The closure of two city centre toilet blocks in Salisbury has been confirmed by the local council.

The underground toilets in the Market Place and the block in Central Car Park will both be shutting, with the car park block being handed over to Wiltshire Council for them to control.

Salisbury City Council (SCC) says it has made the decision in an effort to save more than £100,000.

An above ground accessible toilet in the market place is to be made available to all, while traders will still have access to the underground loo's in the Market Place.

SCC say plans for 'safer, better and cost-effective' toilets will consulted on in the coming weeks, with businesses set to be invited to participate in a subsidised scheme to welcome visitors into their businesses.
