Applications for local project funding invited by City Council
The money is for projects that benefit local communities
Community groups and eligible organisations in Salisbury are being encouraged to apply for funding to help improve the local area.
They're being invited to bid for money from Community Infrastracture Levy (CIL) by Salisbury City Council. CIL is collected from new housing developments across the city and reinvested into projects for the benefit of local communities.
It can be used for the provision, improvement, replacement, operation or maintenance of infrastructure, or other measures that support an area’s development.
"Cllr Victoria Charleston, Chair of the Communities Committee, said, “The money is there to support residents and communities to improve Salisbury. We want your help to spend this money on projects that are really important to you.
“If you have a good idea that you think would make things better for the people in your area – whether it’s new water fountains, a playpark, or perhaps community centre improvements – come and speak to us.”
The city council said projects must demonstrate a "clear link" to mitigating the impacts of population growth, addressing growing demand from new developments or supporting the development of the city.
Projects could include parks, open spaces and sports facilities, or walking and cycling boosts, or accessibility improvements.
The council says a three-stage application process will be in place.

Council officers are keen to discuss potential projects with people before applications are submitted, which can help ensure they meet the CIL programmes objectives and eligibility requirements.
