A festival of more than 100 Christmas Trees in a Salisbury church earlier this month attracted over 12,000 people.

The figures have been revealed by St Thomas's Church, as they mark the 20th anniversary of the popular event.

Local schools, businesses and organisations each decorated their own festive trees, with live music throughout to entertain visitors.

They came from around the world to see them too, with visitors recorded from Canada and Australia as well as closer to home.

Donations were taken as people left the church, with more than £21,000 raised in total.

That's been split between Christians against Poverty (CAP) in the city, Morning Star Salisbury, and St Thomas's itself, with each charity presented with £7,300.

Representatives from CAP and Morning Star in Salisbury have been handed their share of the donations made at the Christmas Tree Festival

The totals and cheque handovers took place at the church's Carols for Busy People event.

That's been held for a number of years in a lunch break, to allow more of us to attend a short and festive service in the run-up to Christmas.
