Nativity story being told at Salisbury Cathedral family services
The popular Crib Services have become a festive tradition
Salisbury Cathedral's hosting some special family services today (Christmas Eve, Tuesday 24th December) to tell the Nativity story.
The Crib services are especially suitable for younger children, taking place at 1.00pm and 2.30pm.
Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus are told using the words of the four Evangelists – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – played by Cathedral staff and members of the congregation.
The service will include music sung by the Cathedral Choir choristers, joined by the Cathedral’s Youth Choir and Junior Choir, with families able to join in with favourite Christmas carols and hymns.
The service has been created by The Revd Ross Meikle, the Cathedral’s Missioner for Young People, who said:
“This is my first Christmas at the Cathedral, and I’m so excited to share what will surely be a truly special experience with the people and families of Salisbury as we retell the Christmas story.”
No booking is required for the services, with doors opening half an hour before each service.
Saving seats in the Cathedral isn't permitted, so groups wishing to sit together will need to queue together.
