Two men from Salisbury, aged 19 and 36, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass last night.

Additionally, police detained a 67-year-old man from Gosport for careless driving and assaulting an emergency worker.

A 32-year-old woman, a 31-year-old woman, and a 33-year-old man, all from Gosport, faced arrest on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

All six remain in custody as investigations continue.

The arrests followed a collaborative response by police and partner agencies, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Border Security Command, to reports of a small boat crossing the English Channel on Tuesday, 22nd September.

Protests took place in Gosport and Portsmouth as members of the public followed the vessel's activities closely.

Officers were deployed to ensure public safety and facilitate peaceful protest.

However, tensions rose when news broke suggesting the vessel would dock elsewhere in the country, and some protestors in Gosport became hostile towards police officers.

Police say inquiries continue into online videos depicting damage to a boat in the English Channel on the afternoon of 22nd September.
