Retailers in Chippenham are being warned to remain vigilant following reports of counterfeit notes being used in the area.

The Chippenham Neighbourhood team received several hundreds of pounds worth of counterfeit Scottish or Irish notes from retailers in the town centre.

Offenders are reportedly targeting young retail workers by making numerous transactions for small items.

The local Neighbourhood Teams are actively working with businesses to advise them on identifying suspicious notes and reporting any activity to allow for rapid action.

This warning comes as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, aimed at improving community safety and reducing crime.

Retailers in Chippenham can contact the Neighbourhood Policing Team for crime prevention advice or to express any concerns via email at [email protected] .
