A Poulshot man has been sentenced to three years in prison for multiple child sex offences and is barred from ever working with children and vulnerable adults.

Karl Shuttleworth, a 60-year-old former resident of Poulshot Road, was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court on 23rd February after pleading guilty earlier to charges including attempting to incite a female child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to make a child under 13 watch an image of sexual activity, arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Shuttleworth was also given a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, ordered to pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £1,000 and a £228 surcharge.

The Child Internet Exploitation Team led the investigation after visiting Shuttleworth’s address in September 2024.

Det Con Jason Walsh, from the team, stated, "Shuttleworth is a predator who made numerous attempts via various online platforms to instruct people who he believed were children to engage in sexual activity.

"Fortunately, although we found no live victims, we believe Shuttleworth had a real sexual interest in children.

"Considering he had a job which involved working alongside vulnerable children, I believe he posed a real danger. I am therefore, extremely pleased that as a direct result of our complex investigation, he has been given not just a custodial sentence, but barred from working with children for life."
