Detectives are renewing their call for information regarding the murder of Melanie Hall, a university graduate, as the 30th anniversary of her disappearance approaches.

Melanie Hall was last seen on 9th June 1996 at Cadillacs nightclub in Bath after spending a night out with friends.

Her disappearance has remained a mystery.

Melanie's remains were discovered on 5th October 2009 by workmen near the M5 motorway's northbound slip road at junction 14.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Lavender, leading the ongoing investigation, will make a fresh appeal for information on BBC One's Crimewatch Live show.

The episode will feature interviews with Melanie's father, Steve Hall, and sister, Dominique.

"The investigation into Melanie Hall's murder is one of the most prolonged and high-profile cases conducted by Avon and Somerset Police, with hundreds of officers having worked on it over the years," Lavender said.

He emphasised the family's enduring pain and their strength and resilience, stressing the importance of providing them with justice and answers as the anniversary draws near.

Lavender encouraged the public to reflect on the weekend of 8th and 9th June 1996.

He pointed out that England was playing Switzerland in the opening game of the Euros, and Bath was extremely crowded.

Melanie spent the evening at Cadillacs nightclub with her boyfriend and friends.

"Her last confirmed sighting was at 1.10am on 9th June when her friends left the club while she was sitting alone by the dance floor," Lavender explained.

He urged anyone who might have seen Melanie that night or heard information raising concerns or suspicions to come forward.

"We believe there's a strong possibility Melanie left the nightclub with her killer, as a coat she had checked into a cloakroom was collected," he added.

Lavender highlighted the significance of the 2009 discovery site of Melanie's remains, emphasizing it as a key focus of the investigation.

He asked anyone who might have seen a car parked near the M5 slip road or has connections from Bath to this route during or shortly after Melanie's disappearance to reach out.

Replicas of items and clothing she had on the night she went missing

Melanie's personal belongings, including a pale blue silk dress, black suede mule shoes, a cream jacket, a black handbag, and items like cosmetics, a Midland chequebook and bank card, and jewelry including a Next watch and silver drop earrings, remain missing.

Crimestoppers has announced a reward of up to £20,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Melanie's murder.
