Police appeal after serious assault inside car on M4

A man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and drink driving

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault inside a car on the M4 yesterday (January 28th).

Officers attended the incident between junctions 16 and 17 of the M4 Westbound at around 2:30pm, following a report from the ambulance service that a man had suffered serious facial injuries in an assault inside a grey Vauxhall Astra.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was found in the passenger seat of the car on the motorway’s hard shoulder.

A man, who is known to the victim, was discovered nearby with minor facial injuries.

He was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and drink driving.

He received treatment in hospital before being taken into custody for questioning.

The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-changing.

The motorway was closed while investigators carried out enquiries, but was later reopened.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the altercation or has dash cam footage of the grey Vauxhall Astra on the M4 to come forward.
