People in Trowbridge are being urged to report new incidents of graffiti following a rise in the number of tags appearing across the town.
Wiltshire Police say they are working closely with partners to identify and arrest those responsible and are encouraging the public to support their efforts.
Sergeant Gemma Rutter said: “It is disappointing to see the number of graffiti tags in the town. This kind of criminal damage has a real impact on neighbourhoods and is incredibly frustrating for property owners.
“I appreciate the effect this has on the community, and when incidents are reported, we will work to identify those responsible. However, this can often be difficult due to a lack of evidence.
“We would urge anyone who becomes aware of new incidents of graffiti to report it to the Wiltshire Council Anti-Social Behaviour Team, who we are working closely with to tackle this behaviour.”
The issue will also be discussed at the Safer Streets Sub-Committee meeting later this month.
Wiltshire Council Councillor responsible for Trowbridge Park, Chris Vaughan said: "Such selfish and blatant criminal behaviour, at any scale - but especially on a scale such as this - should never be tolerated or allowed to become accepted.
"The damage done to public, private, and commercial property, not to mention the harm to the public’s sense of safety and the reputation of their community, is sadly vast."
