Off-duty PCSO commended for bravery after confronting thieves in Marlborough

Local officer recognised for exceptional actions during a theft

A Wiltshire Police officer has been recognised for his bravery after he intervened during a theft in Marlborough whilst he was off duty.

PCSO Mark Braithwaite took action when he saw the theft taking place despite not having personal protective equipment or immediate support.

However Mark was able to challenge and detain three suspects involved in the theft, allowing colleagues to make arrests and recover the stolen property.

He's has been recognised for his bravery, professionalism, and dedication to the community with an award from Assistant Chief Constable Deborah Smith on 18th December 2025.

The Assistant Chief Constable highlighted Mark’s courageous response as an example of outstanding neighbourhood policing and his commitment to public safety.

Mark’s approach to the situation reflects his dedication to the community, both in and out of uniform.
