Most Wiltshire families have been offered one of their preferred secondary schools for this September, with 98.34% being offered one of their three top choices.

Wiltshire Council said 93.85% secured their first preference and almost all families chose to apply online this year, with 99% of applications submitted digitally.

There were fewer applications than in 2025 because the cohort transferring to secondary school in September 2026 is smaller.

The council said parents and carers who applied online will receive their school place decision via email or through the Parent Portal, according to their selected option.

Families have until 16th March 2026 to accept or decline the offered placement

Parents who have submitted a paper application before the deadline of the 31 October 2025, will receive a letter confirming the outcome of their application which was posted out to them today (2 March 2026.)

Cllr Jon Hubbard, Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Education and Skills, said: It's that time of year again when families across Wiltshire are waiting to hear about their secondary school places, and I'm pleased that so many have received offers that reflect their preferences.

I encourage families to take time to read through their offer carefully and follow the next steps outlined, whether that's accepting the place or seeking further guidance. Our admissions team is on hand to support anyone who has questions.

These positive figures are the result of the careful planning and commitment shown by our officers, helping to secure sufficient school places now and in the future.

I wish all pupils and their families the very best as they prepare for this important and exciting move from primary to secondary school.

The right to an independent appeal is open to anyone who has not received an offer at one of their preferred schools.
