The owner of Marlborough Pets has submitted an application to repair the damage to her shopfront, which was caused when a lorry collided with scaffolding on the A4 London Road in Marlborough.

The incident occurred in the early hours of January 5, affecting multiple shopfronts within the row of 18th-century structures.

Eyewitnesses described the accident as an HGV driver struggling with scaffolding, resulting in the destruction of three bay windows.

Business owner Tina Kelly is requesting listed building consent to restore the damaged bay window and door at 5 London Road, a Grade II listed property in Marlborough's Conservation Area.

With a focus on conservation, Kelly aims to replace the window and door to mirror the original design, encompassing size, proportions, materials, glazing, detailing, and colour.

Additional repairs include replacing 40 damaged tiles on the historic lean-to roof using reclaimed handmade clay tiles and restoring six metres of leadwork.

The plan also entails replacing damaged black guttering and downpipes to maintain the building's architectural integrity.

A decision by Wiltshire Council regarding the application is anticipated by mid-May, as conservation efforts seek to revive the shop's heritage while ensuring functional restoration.
