A 20-year-old man from Salisbury has been jailed after leading police on a dangerous 47-mile pursuit.

Ryan Moore, of Carmelite Way, was sentenced to eight months in prison at Salisbury Crown Court today (January 9), after previously pleading guilty to dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, no insurance, failing to provide an evidential sample and using fraudulent registration plates.

Police pursuit across multiple roads

Police spotted a black Mercedes A Class on Avon Approach in Salisbury at around 11.05pm on 9th December last year during a suspected drugs deal.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, driven by Moore, who immediately failed to stop, leading them on a long pursuit through and out of Salisbury on the A30, onto the A303 and then onto the M3.

Information received also suggested the car was being driven on cloned registration plates.

Officers from Hampshire also joined the pursuit on the motorway, where Moore reached speeds of 120mph.

Police say he drove dangerously by weaving through traffic and travelling through roadworks.

The car came to a stop near Fleet Services after running out of fuel, where a drugs wipe confirmed Moore had cannabis in his system.

The vehicle was confirmed to be on cloned plates.

Sentencing

Alongside his prison term, Moore received a three year and four month driving disqualification.

PC Pedliham from Salisbury Community Policing Team said:

“A prison term reflects the seriousness of Moore’s behaviour.

"For a prolonged period of time, he put the lives of other road users at serious risk by making incredibly poor decisions, driving at excess speed and dangerously in a desperate attempt to evade police.

"Thankfully, through the collaborative work by our officers and Hampshire Police, the lengthy pursuit came to an end without any injuries."
