A 37-year-old man from Oxford has been sentenced to eight months in jail for repeatedly stalking a woman and leaving her fearing for her safety.

Steffon Wood, from Long Ford Close, Oxford, contacted the victim in her 30s over 200 times via phone calls, sent abusive messages, and repeatedly visited her residence in Wiltshire.

These actions took place between 15th and 19th January, breaching his bail conditions as well as a Domestic Violence Protective Order (DVPO).

His actions led to his arrest following a public appeal, and he was subsequently charged.

Wood appeared at Swindon Magistrates’ Court where he admitted to stalking involving a fear of violence.

In addition to the jail term, Wood has been issued a £187 fine and a three-year restraining order to protect the victim.

"Wood showed absolutely no remorse for his actions despite multiple breaches of his bail conditions,” Trainee DC Murat said when he pleaded guilty.

"He repeatedly called and sent abusive messages to the victim, as well as banging on her windows and door, leaving her in fear for her safety."

"I’m pleased the court has remanded him into custody ahead of his sentencing."
