Man jailed for assaulting workers at a restaurant and drink driving
Michal Korgul has been sentenced to 35 weeks in prison.
A man who assaulted workers at a service station before attempting to drive away drunk, has been jailed.
39-year-old Michal Korgul, of Wyville Road, Frome, pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified, two counts of common assault, assault by beating, and failing to provide a specimen of breath.
At Salisbury Magistrates Court on the 23rd of July, Korgul was given a 35-week prison sentence.
He was also disqualified from driving for 40 months and must pay £200 compensation to his victims.
Shortly before 10pm on July 21st, police were called to Burger King in Grenada Services, Warminster. Korgul was drunk and being abusive to staff by throwing items and spitting at them.
When officers arrived, they spotted Korgul driving a vehicle in the car park, with a child inside. He was clearly intoxicated and alcohol was found in the car.
Korgul refused a breath test and was arrested. The child was returned home.
PC George Malin-Davis said: “On arrival at the scene, officers found Korgul was visibly intoxicated, his speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. He was clearly in no fit state to be behind the wheel of a car, let alone in the company of a child. It does not bear thinking about what could have happened had police not been alerted and intervened."
