Man denies causing deaths of three vespa riders in Wiltshire by dangerous driving
Hugh Campion, 71, has been released on bail ahead of a trial next June
A motorist has denied causing the deaths of three Vespa scooter riders in Wiltshire by dangerous driving.
Hugh Campion, 71, pleaded not guilty to a total of eight charges relating to a collision on the A36 at Knook, on May 31 last year.
A Toyota Prius driven by Campion is alleged to have collided with three Vespa mopeds travelling in the opposite direction.
Robert Best, 62, died at the scene, while Marie Jones, 64, and Timothy Davies, 62, died in hospital.
Campion, of Upton Scudamore, Wiltshire, pleaded not guilty to three charges of causing death by dangerous driving during a short hearing at Salisbury Crown Court.
He also denied three alternative charges of causing death by careless driving.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to causing serious injury to Gary Jones by dangerous driving and the alternative of causing injury by careless driving.
Judge Rufus Taylor told Campion he would face a trial lasting up to 10 days, which was due to begin on June 1 next year.
A pre-trial review will take place on April 30.
Campion was released on unconditional bail.
