Man arrested as police investigate suspected arson in Pewsey

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after five cars were destroyed in a fire in Pewsey.

Police and fire crews were called to Rawlins Road early on Thursday morning - there were no reported injuries.

A man in his forties from Southampton, remains in custody.

Inspector Simon Garrett said: ”This wss a concerning incident which resulted in some large scale damage to vehicles parked in the road. Thankfully there were no related injuries.

“I am pleased that officers have swiftly made an arrest through some good proactive policing and a man is currently in custody.

“We would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours of yesterday morning and may have seen any suspicious activity. We would also like to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage that could help with ongoing enquiries.”
