A man has been arrested after a police pursuit in Calne in the early hours of this morning (25/02).
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle following concerns regarding the manner of driving along the A4 from Chippenham to Calne and onto the A342 Old Derry Hill.
Police say the driver failed to stop and carried on through the village of Derry Hill and back on to the A4, driving at excess speed and at times on the wrong side of the road and roundabouts.
The pursuit continued on through Calne despite the vehicle being stung near the A3102 bypass, eventually coming to a stop in Lickhill Road, where a man was seen to decamp and run.
Officers pursued the man on foot but he was lost to sight.
A man in his 40s was later arrested at an address in Calne on suspicion of failing to stop, failing to provide and dangerous driving.
He remains in custody for questioning.
