Salisbury's Young Gallery is getting a new print exhibition at the end of this month.

INTERCHANGE by Julia Atkinson will be on display in Gallery 2 from 23rd May.

The exhibit is a series of screenprints exploring the interaction between colours.

They've been created by printing colours of the spectrum onto different backgrounds through a stencil of parallel lines, resulting in colours merging as others catch our eye.

The works were first produced in the 1970s in an experiment of different surfaces and materials, with a variety of stripes and patterns used.

The art was donated to the Young Gallery in 2024 and this exhibition will be their first public display in Salisbury.

Julia Atkinson said: "I am so pleased to see the INTERCHANGE series exhibited at the Young Gallery. These proved to be popular when I first created them in the 1970s and continue to be so now. I am grateful that they have found a permanent home in the Young Gallery's collection in Salisbury."

Dr Emily Dunbar, Curator and Gallery Manager, said: "This exhibition showcases the pure vibrancy of colour and these artworks are a valued addition to the Young Gallery's significant print collection."

The exhibition is free to visit and runs until 6th September.
