A Hilperton man has been sentenced to four years and two months in prison for stalking and intentionally suffocating a woman known to him.

Kyle Chisholm, 27, of Foxglove Drive, Hilperton, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on 9th April after pleading guilty to the charges.

Between December 2023 and November 2025, Chisholm engaged in a pattern of stalking behavior, which included sending numerous threatening messages to the victim, damaging her property, and suffocating her with a pillow while making threats on her life.

In her statement read to the court, the victim detailed the impact of Chisholm's actions, expressing how the experience has affected her daily life and mental health.

She said: "I have avoided texts from my loved ones, as I don’t like my phone anymore, I hate my phone going off, every time it’s a reminder of what I had to put up with.

"I spend a big portion of my day thinking about what is going through his mind, for example if he is thinking about me or how obsessed is with the thought of hurting me again.

"It consumes my thoughts and it destroys my energy and capacity to want to do anything productive or leave the house."

Chisholm was also issued an indefinite restraining order.

Survivors bravery praised

Local Crime Investigator Ben Hillier from the Volume Crime Team commented on the case, highlighting the distress caused by Chisholm's actions.

“This was a deeply distressing case involving persistent stalking and a serious assault, which left the victim fearing for her safety," Hillier said.

He commended the victim's bravery and Wiltshire Police's commitment to addressing stalking and violence against women and girls.

Hillier stated, "Wiltshire Police is committed to tackling stalking and violence against women and girls, and we will continue to take robust action against those who seek to cause harm.”

Recognising and Reporting Stalking

If you are experiencing stalking, there is support available through Wiltshire Police's website. They outline four key signs of stalking: Fixated, Obsessive, Unwanted, and Repeated.

Stalking can occur in person or online, through social networking sites, chat rooms, gaming sites, and other forums. It is important to remember that if you're being stalked, it is not your fault, and it is a criminal offence.

For those who feel unable to contact the police directly, the advice is to confide in someone about the ongoing situation or reach out to services such as the National Stalking Helpline provided by the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.
