Randomly selected households in Wiltshire are getting the chance to help shape improvements on transport in the county.

The National Highways and Transport Public Satisfaction survey is being sent to roughly 3,000 homes across Wiltshire, with the council aiming to use the feedback to better understand issues and to channel efforts on improvements.

The survey is carried out across the country on a yearly basis and can help local authorities benchmark themselves against each other to establish the best solution for their communities.

Cllr Martin Smith is Cabinet Member for Highways at Wiltshire Council. "If we find that, you know, residents don't think we're doing particularly well in a certain service area, then, you know, we need to focus attention on that and see what we can do, whether it's improvement to processes or whether it's an increased budget required, then that will definitely sort of drive us over the next year or so to see whether we can improve."

While the survey is only going to selected homes, Cllr Smith is confident it will provide enough data for the council to act on.

He said it is crucial that any household receiving it, fills it out.

"What they say is vital to us and will help shape our future priorities and ensure we're focusing on the services that matter most to those residents."
