Almost a million pounds of Government funding is to help expand early years provision across Wiltshire.

£867,000 is being spent to create more than 400 spaces for children under two years old across 22 childcare settings.

The cash injection is to help meet increasing demand for childcare, allowing more families to access the flexible care options that suit their needs.

Cabinet Member for Children's Services, Cllr Jon Hubbard, said the funding is going to have a major impact.

"It's going to make a real difference to families across Wiltshire. By supporting our diverse range of childcare providers, we're helping parents access the flexible, high-quality care they need to balance work and family life. We're proud to have created hundreds of new spaces and to see the positive impact this investment is having in our communities," he said.

Among the organisations to have benefited from the cash is Manor Farm Nursery school, which opened a new baby classroom in September, with owner and manager, Cherida Daniel saying it's helped boost capacity.

Baloos Nursery in Trowbridge has also been helped to grow, thanks to the funding.

Owner Lucy Coombs said the funding has allowed them to complete new baby rooms ahead of a busy September period.

"We have taken 9 new 0-2 year olds a day, in our first room. With a brand-new space created just for them, it's really brought our nursery together. We are super excited to watch it grow from strength to strength," she said.
