Another Wiltshire dog owner has been prosecuted for failing to update their pet's microchip information, bringing the recent total to four cases across the county.

Lyndsey Weir from Devizes failed to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Thursday 28 August and the case was heard in her absence.

She was found guilty of failing to comply with a notice requiring her to update her dog's ownership details on the microchip database within 21 days.

She was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £430.81 to Wiltshire Council, plus a victim surcharge of £88.

Under UK law, all cats and dogs must be microchipped, and owners are legally required to keep their contact details up to date on the microchip database.

Failure to do so can result in prosecution and a fine.
