Teenagers face justice after guilty plea in Salisbury Magistrates’ Court
Five teenagers have been sentenced to referral orders following a robbery involving a teenage victim in Corsham.
The robbery occurred on 8th August last year near Westwells Road, when a teenage boy was robbed of cash and sustained a head injury, which was not serious.
At Salisbury Magistrates’ Court, three girls and two boys between the ages of 14 and 16 pleaded guilty to the offence.
Due to legal restrictions, their identities cannot be disclosed.
They each received referral orders lasting nine months.
Sergeant Mike Tripp explained the purpose of referral orders, saying: “Referral orders are youth justice sentences designed to help young offenders understand the impact of their actions, take responsibility for their offending and make positive changes to prevent further offending.”
He added that the programme involves rehabilitative and restorative activities aiming to reduce the likelihood of reoffending.
“The hope is that these sentences encourage the defendants involved to make better choices in the future,” Tripp said.
