Familiar face makes goal-scoring return to Salisbury squad
Dan Fitchett is back at the Ray Mac for a fourth spell
Dan Fitchett made a goal-scoring return to the Salisbury side as The Whites progressed to the semi-finals of the Wiltshire FA Premier Shield.
The striker, who signed just hours before kick-off, netted one of five first half goals as Brian Dutton's side beat Melksham Town 5-3.
They will now take on Bemerton Heath Harlequins in the semis.
Upon the 33-year-old's return, Dutton said: “I’m really pleased to bring Fitch back. I think he’s missed us just as much as we’ve missed him.
“We’re obviously crying out for another player at the top end of the pitch to secure possession and bring his teammates into the game.
“He has an affinity with the club and supporters, and when he’s up-to speed, he will show he still has the capabilities to perform at this level.”
It's the strikers fourth spell at the Ray Mac and he played a big role in the clubs promotion campaign in the 2023/24 season.
He's not the only fresh face at training though, as goalkeeper Rhys Byrne has joined on loan from League 1 side, Leyton Orient.
He provides cover as both Dan Lincoln and Alex Rutter are out injured.
The 22-year-old has experience in the National League South, having played on loan at Dartford last season.
On signing the ‘keeper, Brian Dutton said, “I’m delighted to bring Rhys in. He’s shown a real willingness to come here, and we want to repay his attitude with the opportunity.”
