Hundreds of fake squishy toys seized in Chippenham
They broke UK safety legalisations
Hundreds of counterfeit squishy toys have been seized from a shop in Chippenham for safety legislation breaches.
None of the toys found by Wiltshire Trading Standards Officers were marked with the name and address of a UK-based manufacturer or importer. This is a legal requirement so products can be traced if safety issues are identified.
Trading Standards said the absence of this information is a warning sign that there may be other compliance or safety concerns.
Similar products have previously been found to contain high levels of chemicals that can be a serious health risk.
Trading Standards says it's important to know how to spot fakes of popular squishy toys like NeeDoh, which isn't always easy.
Advisors say NeeDoh products will have a NeeDoh logo on the base where the seal is, as well as the official Schylling logo. If the NeeDoh logo is missing, the Schylling logo should always be there.
