On Monday evening (13 October), we received a report from a member of the public of a suspected drink driver in Oatfields, Trowbridge.
Shortly after, police received a report of a damaged blue Kia Rio in a car park in Marston Road, Trowbridge, where the entire front offside tyre was blown out.
Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle driving along Marston Road with sparks coming from the tyres.
Povey was located nearby with a bottle of vodka and was unsteady on his feet.
He refused to provide a specimen for analysis and was arrested. He was further arrested after enquiries showed he had taken the vehicle without consent.
He was subsequently charged and remanded into custody.
