Drivers 'deliberately ignoring' signposted diversion in Westbury
Drivers are being asked to follow the correct route as gas pipe upgrade works are carried out
Drivers are being asked to use a signposted diversion in Westbury, as gas pipe upgrade works are carried out.
Wales and West Utilities say some vehicles are deliberately ignoring the road closure along West End.
The company says it's dangerous for drivers and its staff - who are trying to work as safely and as quickly as they can.
In a statement, Wales and West Utilities said: "We started on 21 July and we’re due to finish at the end of August on the upgrade to the gas pipes on West End in Westbury.
"We’ve worked closely with Wiltshire Council to plan this work and a road closure is currently in place along West End at its junctions with Market Place and Haynes Road.
"We're aware of some vehicles deliberately ignoring the road closure.
"This is dangerous for drivers & our staff who are trying to work as safely and as quickly as they can.
We’re advising road users to use the signposted diversion route to keep everyone safe."
