A motorcyclist who led officers on a dangerous pursuit in Chippenham has been given a suspended sentence and driving disqualification.
Ellis Filkins, 20, of Wick Lane, Lacock, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and using a vehicle without insurance and was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 29.
Back on the evening of July 7, Filkins was riding an Aprilla motorcycle with no number plate on the A350 when he passed a marked roads policing vehicle.
He made off from officers at speed and a pursuit took place along the A350, with speeds of over 120mph.
Filkins became lost to sight, however police enquiries led to him being identified and arrested the following day. His bike was also seized for further enquiries.
During interview, he admitted to being the rider and making off from police.
PC Tom Richardson, from Wiltshire Police's Roads Policing Unit, said: “This was some of the most dangerous riding I have ever seen – Filkins was prepared to put himself and other road users at great risk of harm by travelling at more than three times the speed limit.
“When he became lost to sight, the pursuit had to be abandoned but fortunately, we were able to locate him the following day and make the arrest.
“This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated on our county’s roads.”
Filkins was given a six month prison sentence suspended for 12 months and a 12 month driving disqualification. He must also pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.
