Hospitals issue guidance amid resident doctor strikes
Industrial action is being taken until 7am on Monday
Hospital's welcoming patients from Wiltshire say they're committed to minimising disruption during the resident doctor strikes.
They're walking out from 7am this morning until 7am on Monday 22nd December.
People with appointments are told that they should still attend unless we hear from the hospital. Staff say they will be in touch directly with patients to reschedule appointments.
Emergency departments remain open, but in order to ensure that people with the greatest need are treated, we're asked to only visit A&E or call 999 in a life-threatening emergency or if someone has a serious injury or illness.
People with minor illnesses and injury are asked to seek help and advice from local GPs and pharmacies.
We can also contact 111 for advice in a non-emergency situation.
People visiting loved ones in hospital are still welcome but we may be asked to wear face masks to prevent the spread of flu and other respiratory viruses.
