A Wiltshire woman with 36 points on her disqualified driving license has been jailed for two months.

Amanda Hickling, 61, of Main Road, Cherhill was caught driving whilst disqualified and without insurance last week.

She'd just spent a month behind bars for the same offence last month.

Hickling was stopped on 21st February on the A4361 at Broad Hinton after an ANPR check showed she had 24 points on her licence and was driving without insurance, despite being disqualified from driving until April 2026.

Hickling told the arresting officer the she was taking the ban seriously but had 'pushed her luck' to drive to the shops.

PC Oliver Venton said: "Hickling showed a blatant disregard for the law when she chose to drive her car knowing she had recently gone to prison for the same offence."

This incident came just over a month after she was caught committing the same offence on Westbrook Road in Calne on 7th January, which led to a four-week prison sentence.

Her driving ban has now been extended by a further 18 months.

We're told that people driving after appearing in court for a motoring offence could be breaking the law.

If we suspect someone we know is doing this, we're asked to report our concerns to the police via 101 or on the police website.
