Crackdown on littering in Wiltshire continues with penalties handed out
Two people have been fined hundreds of pounds each

Wiltshire's zero-tolerance approach to fly-tipping has resulted in a pair of fixed penalty notices (FPNs) being handed out.
A person from Salisbury was caught on CCTV in Drove Lane, Coombe Bissett appearing to go to the toilet behind their vehicle.
The video footage showed the individual illegally disposing of use tissue, which lead to a littering investigation by the council’s Environmental Enforcement Team.
The person was handed a £500 FPN for their actions.
Another person was handed an FPN of £1,000 after leaving rubbish near a commercial waste skip in Salisbury.
The waste, which including garden rubbish and household items, was dumped directly under a 'CCTV in-operation' sign.
A pair of local people helped the council with their investigation by providing them crucial information.
The council’s We’re Targeting Fly-tippers (WTF) campaign offers a reward to people who give the council information that leads to an environmental crime FPN or prosecution, with the pair who assisted in this case receiving their reward.
Cllr Nick Holder, Cabinet Member for Highways and Street Scene, said: “We have made commitment in our business plan to tackle environmental crime such as fly-tipping and littering in Wiltshire, and our zero-tolerance enforcement approach is going to continue into 2025.
“These fines send a clear message that if you damage our environment in this way, we will hold you accountable. In both of these cases, the people were careless and thoughtless, choosing to damage our natural environment rather than dealing with their waste responsibly. We then have to allocate resources to clean up the litter, which is money that could be spent on other council services instead.
“Equally, we want to reward those who help us with our campaign and encourage people to continue to report any incidents they witness, so we can continue to take action and keep Wiltshire beautiful for everyone."
As FPNs are not a conviction in court, the residents involved cannot be named.
