A Chippenham man has been sentenced to four years in prison for raping a 14 year old schoolgirl.

2\0 year old Ethan Baily, of Hill Rise, has been sentenced at Swindon Crown Court after being found guilty by trial in October 2024.

In addition to his prison sentence, he'll be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, and has been issued with a lifetime restraining order now to contact the victim.

Baily raped his 14 year old victim on a footpath by the golf course near Monkton Park in Chippenham in October 2021 - he was 17 at the time.

Detective Constable Sam Long said: "This was a cowardly and despicable act committed against a young, vulnerable teenage girl. She was violated in the worst possibly way and was unable to defend herself.

"The victim displayed enormous courage and resilience, which led to Ethan Baily's successful conviction by a unanimous jury. Baily showed no remorse for his actions during the court case.

"I hope today’s sentencing sends out a clear message that such crimes will not be tolerated, victims will be supported, and offenders will be brought to justice.

“I'd urge anyone who has been a victim of a sexual offence to report it to us. We will help you and continue to put perpetrators before the courts."
