Two Cardiff men set to face court following Pewsey hare coursing incident

Two men from Cardiff are to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court after being charged with hare coursing near Pewsey.

Gerry Connors, 32, and Cruz Evans, 20, were arrested on 13th December following an incident at approximately 10.30pm on 13th February, involving a Ford Fiesta near Wingfield crossroads.

The vehicle was seized and the two dogs found in its boot were taken to kennels.

Both men were charged with being equipped for searching for or pursuing hares with dogs, highlighting the ongoing concern about this issue in rural communities.

Mr Connors and Mr Evans have been granted conditional bail ahead of their court appearance on 10th July 2026.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said in a statement:

"Two men have been charged following a report of hare coursing near a farm in Pewsey.

"The incident happened at approximately 10.30pm on February 13 and two men were arrested in a Ford Fiesta near the Wingfield crossroads.

"The vehicle was seized and two dogs located in the boot of the vehicle were taken into kennels.

"Gerry Connors, 32, of Wentloog Road, Cardiff and Cruz Evans, 20, of Tyla Lane, Cardiff, have been charged with being equipped for searching for or pursuing hares with dogs following their arrest on December 13.

"They have been released on conditional bail and will appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court on July 10."
