Salisbury is gearing up for Breathing Spaces 2026, a ten-day celebration of nature, wellbeing, and community connection running from Saturday 27th June to Sunday 5th July.

Organised by Safer and Supportive Salisbury (SaSS), the event aims to encourage residents to explore the city's parks, rivers, nature reserves and community spaces.

Featuring over 30 free and low-cost activities, Breathing Spaces offers opportunities for people to enjoy the outdoors, improve their wellbeing, and connect with others in the community.

The opening day on 27th June includes events such as wild swimming, dog walking, and the Wild and Green Family Festival at River Bourne Community Farm in Laverstock, from 10am to 2pm.

The family festival promises river-themed activities, botanic art, birds of prey, volunteering options, environmental organisations, and hands-on activities suitable for all ages.

The festival is set to attract representatives from Wiltshire's voluntary, community, and public sectors.

Throughout the following ten days, participants can look forward to activities such as guided nature walks, yoga in the park, wildlife talks, gardening, conservation activities, paddle sport taster sessions, fishing experiences, cycling events, wellbeing walks, and learning opportunities about Salisbury's rich natural environment.

Anne Trevett BEM, Chair of SaSS, shared enthusiasm about the positive reception of the programme.

"Since announcing Breathing Spaces, we've been delighted by the positive response from local organisations and residents," Trevett said.

“This programme showcases the incredible green and blue spaces we have in and around Salisbury and the many friendly groups that help people enjoy them."

Many events are free to attend, though some require advance booking. Printed programmes are available throughout Salisbury, with an online programme and interactive map also helping residents find activities around the city and nearby villages.
