Owning the breed was banned at the end of 2023
Wiltshire Police has revealed how many banned and dangerous dogs it's seized in 2024 - which included 21 suspected XL Bully's.
Ownership of an XL Bully breed dog was banned in the UK at the start of 2024 in the wake of a number of attacks on people.
7\2 dogs suspected to be 'banned or dangerous' were taken by Officers in Wiltshire last year, including the 21 suspected XL Bully's.
1\2 were destroyed, seven of which were XL Bully's.
Storing dangerous dogs comes at a hefty price to the Force, which is facing a £5 million shortfall in funding.
Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner, Philip Wilkinson, told Greatest Hits Radio he spends £370,000 on kennels for dangerous dogs.
He's requested that the amount we contribute towards policing through our Council Tax goes up by the maximum amount this year, with a survey for our feedback entering it's final days.
