20p charge for public toilets to be removed in town
Council aims to improve accessibility by removing toilet fees
A decision to remove charges for using public toilets in the town has been made by the Chippenham Town Councils, Amenities Culture and Leisure Committee.
From 1st April, the 20p charge that currently applies to several facilities will no longer be in effect.
The council is investing in the reopening and refurbishment of the Borough Parade and Timber Street toilets, which are expected to be completed by the summer.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Desna Allen, said, “Following our recent community survey it was clear that our residents wanted us to improve public toilets within the town.
The decision to remove the charge will ensure our facilities are accessible for all, and our investment into renewed facilities will greatly improve the experience of those using our town centre.”
