The Stars Appeal has revealed this years Walk for Wards raised a record-breaking total.

The 20th anniversary of the event at Wilton House generated £166,946, which will help funding ongoing and future projects at Salisbury District Hospital.

It tops 2023's previous record of £158,000.

Earlier this summer, 2,100 people took part in a sponsored walk at the south Wiltshire estate, with 3km, 5km, 10km and a new 15km route available.

People walked to help say 'thank you' to the hospital for the care they or a family member had received, while others dedicated it to the memory of a loved one.

Over its 20 years, Walk for Wards has raised more than £1.5million to fund projects such as including the hospital’s first dedicated Breast Unit, a new Children’s Unit, Cardiac Suite and family accommodation on the Neonatal Unit, as well as state-of-the-art equipment such as additional MRI and CT scanners.

Chair of the Stars Appeal Ambassadors and Consultant Surgeon Graham Branagan said: “This record-breaking total is a testament to the incredible support and generosity of our local community. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part, sponsored somebody, volunteered, or helped organise Walk for Wards for making the 20th event so special. The money raised helps us provide the very best care for thousands of patients and their families across the hospital."

Registrations for Walk for Wards 2026 are now open, with the event taking place at Wilton House on Sunday 5th July.
