16-year-old arrested following Corsham attempted robbery
Suspect accused of attempted robbery and drug-related offences
A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and drug-related offences following an incident in Corsham.
On the night of 13th May, a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were approached by a male at the end of an alley near Southerwicks who offered them drugs.
The situation escalated when the male became aggressive and threatened the pair with violence before taking the man's phone.
The victim successfully retrieved his phone, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.
Police have apprehended a 16-year-old in connection with the attempted robbery and charges related to the supply of class B drugs.
The suspect is currently out on bail as further enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Kev Golledge commented: “During the incident, although no knife was seen, the suspect is said to have made threats to stab the victims, who were simply walking home from the shop at the time they were approached.
“Any type of violence or threats of violence will simply not be tolerated, and we will continue to target individuals who cause fear amongst our community.
“Enquiries in relation to this incident have been ongoing and we have now arrested a teenager in connection with this.”
