A woman has been arrested after a car was driven through a police cordon set up following the discovery of an unexploded bomb in Plymouth.

The cordon was put in place in the Southway area after a WW2 ordnance was found at a construction site on Flamborough Road on Wednesday 29 April.

Devon and Cornwall Police said at around 6:45pm that day a car drove through the cordon against police instruction and narrowly missed two Royal Navy personnel.

The force added that a piece of Royal Navy EOD equipment was also damaged.

The vehicle was then stopped by police.

A woman in her 30s from Plymouth was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop a vehicle when directed by an officer and criminal damage to property.

She has been bailed until 21 May pending further enquiries.
