Thieves have been targeting properties in parts of Devon - especially those which are empty or who have elderly people living there.

Brixham, Churston, Paignton and Galmpton have all been targeted, according to police.

A spokesperson said: "In the last few weeks there have been a spate of dwelling burglaries in Paignton, Brixham, Churston and Galmpton.

"The offender has targeted properties in quiet areas, especially those that are unoccupied or with elderly residents.

"Please can people be vigilant and make sure your home is secure as possible. If you have an elderly neighbour, keep an eye on their property and check in on them.

"If you see anything suspicious, please call Police via 999 in an emergency or contact us via our website "
