Police update after device in Plymstock 'not a bomb'

Devon and Cornwall Police established a 100m cordon as a precautionary measure

Police have confirmed that a device found in Plymstock, Plymouth, was not a bomb after being examined by a Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team.

The device was discovered at Colesdown Hill by contractors, with authorities notified shortly afterward at around 12.30pm on 8th June.

Devon and Cornwall Police established a 100m cordon as a precautionary measure.

The Navy disposal team attended the scene upon the request of the police.

An MoD spokesperson confirmed that the team identified the device as a non-ammunition item, which was removed from the location for destruction.

The safety cordon has since been removed after the device posed no ongoing threat.
