A new initiative has been launched in Plymouth designed to enhance the city's response to domestic abuse.

The Integrated Domestic Abuse Service Plymouth (IDASP) has started operations, bringing together four specialist organisations to offer comprehensive support to survivors, children, and individuals seeking guidance in changing harmful behaviours.

The organisers of IDASP have expressed that this new model represents a significant shift in domestic abuse services within the city, aiming to replace previous fragmented support systems with an aligned approach tailored around the needs of those affected by domestic abuse.

The foundation of the partnership is grounded in the belief that individuals who have suffered from domestic abuse should receive support without encountering barriers, delays, or dead ends.

Leading local charity First Light is providing free, confidential, and trauma-informed assistance for adults experiencing domestic abuse.

According to First Light, this initiative is proud to be part of something that is already making a difference in the lives of people in Plymouth.

The Integrated Domestic Abuse Service Plymouth aims to provide a single comprehensive service to those in immediate danger, those seeking to understand their situation, and individuals rebuilding their lives post-abuse with expert guidance throughout their journey.

The service is committed to comprehensively tackling domestic abuse and also offers support to individuals who cause harm.
