Armed police respond to stabbing incident in Kenley Gardens

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after sustaining multiple stab wounds in an incident on Kenley Gardens, Ernesettle, Plymouth, last night.
Armed police arrived at the scene around 9.45pm following reports of a stabbing.
According to Devon and Cornwall Police, the victim’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Arrests made
Police have arrested a 53-year-old man from Plymouth on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
A 44-year-old woman from Plymouth was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Both suspects are currently in police custody.
Police presence and investigation
The police have assured the community that there will be an increased presence in the area as scene guards remain in place for ongoing investigations.
Detectives believe the incident is isolated and that the people involved knew each other.
Their statement read: “Police were called to the Ernesettle area at 9.45pm on Thursday 16 April, following a report that a man in the street, in the Kenley Gardens area, had been located with stab wounds.
"Police units, including armed officers, deployed to the area to carry out searches and enquiries.
"The victim, a man in his 30s, had sustained multiple wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
"A 53-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. A 44-year-old woman from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. They both remain in police custody at this time.
"The community will see an increased police presence as scene guards remain in place while the investigation continues this morning.
"Detectives are currently treating this as an isolated incident and those involved are believed to be known to each other.
